THE CHALLENGE OF THE INCARNATION

Historically and today Christians maintain that Jesus is the Incarnation of the Christ.  For our culture and times Jesus is the supreme exemplar of Goodness, Truth and Beauty. A true Son of God, not rhetorically but in actuality.  Throughout

His earthly teaching ministry Jesus continually calls us to "follow Him." " I am the Way, the Truth and the Life," he tells us.  Jesus is challenging us to awaken to our own individual potential as Sons and Daughters of God.  Just like an older brother calls his younger siblings to maturity.   We are ONE family. Jesus tells us in John 14:12  "Truly I tell you, whoever follows my example, will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater than these." We all have latent within us the hidden Divine potential for Christhood, to become incarnations of the Christ. This is our challenge, and it is not an easy task. Jesus doesn't anywhere tell us it will be easy, but He tells us it will be worth it. This is the Way of The Cross, the total subjugation and transformation of the little egocentric ME. The little egocentric ME is The Demon that bedevils all of our efforts to altruistic action and the spiritual life, and only LOVE can dissolve and negate it. In the presence of Love is the Radiant Christ Spirit.  Love Wins, as Jesus exemplified, not by rhetoric, but by his life.  Are we willing to follow the example Jesus set for us?  This it The Challenge of The Incarnation.
